Rail Cargo Hungaria Zrt. has successfully completed an intensive sugar beet campaign

Compared to the original plan, Rail Cargo Hungaria Zrt (RCH) was able to handle all sugar beet transport by rail throughout Hungary within a much shorter time frame. Due to weather conditions, harvesting began later than usual, therefore in 2025 sugar beet deliveries had to be accomplished with extremely intensive logistics and tight deadlines.

Thanks to a good cooperation of approx. 100 specialists in the relevant areas, precise planning and flexible performance, RCH transported from October 1, 2025 4,000–4,300 tons of harvested crops per day to Kaposvár from 30 dispatch stations located in various growing regions across Hungary.

Although ongoing track renovation works on the railway infrastructure made it difficult to meet tight deadlines, realizing the challenges faced, RCH completed the campaign, originally planned by the sugar factory to last 80-85 days, in 76 days by mid-December. The market-leading Hungarian rail freight company transported 311,000 tonnes of sugar beets by 6,479 freight wagons on the domestic railway network, covering a total of around 62,000 train kilometres.
