MÁV-START and Rail Cargo Hungaria extend their strategic cooperation with another four years

MÁV-START and Rail Cargo Hungaria have extended their framework agreement on the use of traction services – which has been in force for almost a decade and a half – until the end of 2024.

The agreement was signed on behalf of MÁV-START by József Kerékgyártó CEO and on behalf of Rail Cargo Hungaria by Norbert Körös, CEO and Román Kotiers, CFO.

The details of the strategic cooperation were developed taking into account the recent experiences. Thanks to the constructive negotiations, the contract enables a quick and flexible reaction to the changing economic environment and to the current market and operational challenges.

The document stipulates the conditions for ordering, providing and billing of short- and long-haul traction services requested by Rail Cargo Hungaria. At the same time, the contract strengthens the strategic partnership recently developed between the two companies. The aim is to increase the volume of rail freight, enhance the efficiency of rail traffic and improve the service level in the future as well.

Rail Cargo Hungaria will continue to place significant traction orders with MÁV-START, which will maintain the capacities required to fulfil them. The agreement also covers the details of the cooperation regarding the conveyance of locomotives, the provision of drivers and the optimization of the operation.

The contracting parties are determined to reduce the environmental impact associated with their activities in order to prevent environmental damage.
