Rail Cargo Operator - Hungaria: new intermodal solutions for export of Ukrainian agricultural products

Rail Cargo Operator - Hungaria supports the delivery of Ukrainian agricultural products to their markets with effective intermodal solutions.

As the transport of Ukrainian containers from the blocked Black Sea harbours is not possible, RCO-HU opened previously non-used routes to convey Ukrainian containers to the Adriatic ports.

Since April, 2050 TEU in total have been transported by trains operated by the company from Ukraine via Eperjeske and Rail Cargo Terminal - BILK in Budapest to Koper and Trieste, from where Ukrainian goods are being transported by cargo ships to various oversea destinations. To ensure the continuity of freight traffic, the company also transports empty containers back to Ukraine from these ports. Intermodal trains managed by RCO-HU also run directly from Ukraine to Koper, and have transported around 170 TEU since April.

Most recently, the transport of cargo containers to Ukraine from the Far East has also started. RCO-HU has established a new transport route for Ukrainian economic operators who previously carried out maritime import transport via Odessa and Gdansk. The goods necessary for the operation of the Ukrainian economy are now delivered to Ukraine under the organisation of RCO-HU from the Adriatic ports, via RCT-BILK, Záhony or Dobra.
