Imre Kovács, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Rail Cargo Hungaria Zrt. and Norbert Körös, CEO of Rail Cargo Hungaria Zrt. presented the students with the documents on the ceremony, where Ulrike Köhler Deputy Ambassador of the Embassy of Austria in Budapest, Margot Wieser, principal of the Austrian School of Budapest, as well as parents and teachers were present.
The market-leading Hungarian rail freight company launched the „Rail Cargo Hungaria scholarship programme” in 2011, with the aim of acknowledging and supporting students with an outstanding performance, promoting talent management and strengthening the cooperation between the Austrian School of Budapest and Rail Cargo Hungaria.
Ulrike Köhler Deputy Ambassador acknowledged the traditional relationship of the Hungarian subsidiary of Rail Cargo Group and the school and congratulated the students for receiving the scholarship for their outstanding performance. She also added: „Rail Cargo Hungaria managed to be a success story in a competitive environment and its operation sets an example for the sustainable and cooperative bilateral economic relationships between Austria and Hungary. Rail Cargo Hungaria’s engagement towards the scholarship program is also a high recognition for the Austrian School of Budapest. Hereby, I would like to thank RCH and I would like to express my hope that this cooperation will continue for many-many-years.”
Norbert Körös highlighted on the occasion that there is a strikingly growing need for well-qualified, innovative young people on the job market of the European Union, especially in the field of rail freight transport. Therefore, Rail Cargo Hungaria, as a market-leading company, supports the education of the new generation of employees at all levels of the school system. “Supporting the education of the younger generation is very important for the Hungarian market of the group and the parent company in Austria as well”, emphasized Norbert Körös and added that Rail Cargo Hungaria seizes all opportunities to inspire young people to choose the field of rail freight transport.
Next to supporting the talented students of the Austrian school in Budapest, Rail Cargo Hungaria also cooperates with several vocational centres, high schools and universities throughout Hungary. Aim of the collaborations is to make young people aware of the activity and the career opportunities of the market-leading rail freight company.
Margot Wieser stated in her speech on the ceremony that there are many reasons for the success of the Austrian School of Budapest. Most important is „togetherness”, a well-functioning and beautiful teamwork of people: a lively school community that is shaped by dialogue, partnership, appreciation, trust and respect – talented students, supporting parents and families, an experienced and highly engaged team of teachers and partners like RCH, who accompany and support us. The scholarships are granted to students who have excellent grades but also outstanding social competences, are also actively involved in the school life and hence contribute to the success of the Austrian School of Budapest. Accomplishments should be acknowledged by grades but more importantly by personal feedback and praise. A nice example for acknowledgment are the scholarships of Rail Cargo Hungaria.”
The ceremony ended with the musical performance of the students.
The Austrian School of Budapest
The Austrian School of Budapest is one of the seven Austrian schools abroad and also one of the most successful foundation-, and private schools in Hungary. The establishment of the school is part of an international agreement with the aim of strengthening the Austro-Hungarian relationships. Since its existence the students, having excellent German language skills, were warmly welcomed by German-speaking institutions and companies and by businesses with Austrian connections. Incorporating differentiated teaching methods and providing additional support opportunities for talented students are of primary importance for a successful school. Learning is the responsibility of the students and the Scholarship Program of Rail Cargo Hungaria serves as a great motivational power.
