The cooperation provides an opportunity for the experts of the market-leading rail freight company to take part in the scientific activities of the university and even to participate in the joint, professional work as lecturers. According to the agreement, the company can also implement a university-level, practice-oriented dual education programme for students participating in transport engineering, vehicle engineering, and logistics engineering MSc studies.
“An active relationship and cooperation with the industrial partners is of high importance for the university to be able to provide our students with up-to-date knowledge which they can later utilize under real market conditions. In addition, we place great emphasis on increasing the role of sustainability and green technologies that determine our future, and Rail Cargo Hungaria is an important partner in achieving this goal.” – said Tibor Czigány, rector of BME in his welcome speech.
Román Kotiers emphasised on the occasion: “There is a dynamically growing need for well qualified, innovative young people on the rail freight market. Therefore, RCH focuses on the education of young professionals of the future at all levels of the school system. It is a great honour for us that we can contribute with our experience and expertise to the shaping of the educational programme of the Faculty of Transportation Engineering and Vehicle Engineering."
RCH undertakes the part-time employment of university students based on application and examines also the possibility of awarding a scholarship. The collaboration comprises also the possibility of the company to participate in the selection of topics for students’ scientific research and providing mentoring support to them. It can make suggestions for thesis topics, and with the provision of an external consultant, it can contribute to the preparation of diplomawork and final papers written in railways topics. The company welcomes university students for summer internships and organises factory visits and excursions for them.
RCH presents innovative railway technology solutions to the university students and provides opportunities to practice in order to enable them to apply their theoretical knowledge.
According to the agreement, the university will examine the possibility of starting specializations in the bachelor’s and master's degree programs, as well as the launch of further specialized education courses and the development of a dual education programme.
With the document signed today, the company has further expanded its previous network of partnerships with higher education institutions. For years, the railway company has been supporting the rail freight transport training of full-time and part-time students at the University of Debrecen with lecturers and educational materials, and established an effective educational and internship relationship with the University of Dunaújváros and Széchenyi István University in Győr.
