COSCO SHIPPING and ÖBB Rail Cargo Group: High-Level Summit in Budapest

Senior managers of the ÖBB Rail Cargo Group and COSCO SHIPPING have met at Rail Cargo Terminal - BILK, strengthening their shared strategic partnership was in the focus of their discussions.

The business partnership between COSCO SHIPPING, one of the largest global international shipping companies, and the Rail Cargo Group (RCG), Europe's leading railway logistics company goes back many years. An important milestone was the acquisition in 2019 of an approximately 15 percent share in Rail Cargo Terminal - BILK by Ocean Rail Logistics S.A., a subsidiary of COSCO SHIPPING.

The professional cooperation was further strengthened in Budapest, within the framework of a high-level meeting attended by Wan Min, the chairman of COSCO, Andreas Matthä, the CEO of ÖBB, Christoph Grasl, Board Member of Rail Cargo Group and dr. Imre Kovács, the CEO of Rail Cargo Hungaria.

They first visited Rail Cargo Terminal - BILK, one of Hungary's leading intermodal terminals. The 22.3-hectare terminal in Budapest is directly connected to Europe's major seaports (Hamburg, Bremerhaven, Koper, Piraeus, Rijeka) and terminals (Neuss, Vienna, Halkali). RCT-BILK is a central hub for the distribution of COSCO consignments from the port of Piraeus.

They also exchanged ideas on deepening existing cooperation and on future strategic projects. RCG and COSCO SHIPPING reaffirmed their commitment to jointly build further intermodal connections between China and Central Europe.
