The students gained a comprehensive overview of the key operational regulations governing the Hungarian railway network and gained deeper insights into the principles of operational control. The training focused on safety-critical aspects of railway operations and related case studies, including track possession scenarios and operations on the opposite track. During workshop sessions, participants analyzed these complex situations based on technical data, operational rules, and accident and safety reports.
The intensive two-week program took place at several locations and followed a demanding schedule. Participants explored the theoretical foundations, took part in practical exercises, completed both traffic management and locomotive simulation tasks, and also examined the operation of driverless train systems.
One of the highlights of the program was the two roundtable discussions hosted at RCH’s headquarter, where the students had the opportunity to meet leading executives from the Hungarian railway sector. In these open and interactive discussions, the participants received first-hand answers to their questions about the operation of railway services in Hungary, the challenges facing the industry, as well as career opportunities and professional development within the railway sector.
