The transfer of ownership of the company with a history of 160 years – handling the revision and rebuilding of ca. 1,400 freight wagons and the repair of more than 12,000 rail wheel sets per year – came into force on 1 January 2021.
Imre Kovács, Member of the Board of Rail Cargo Austria and Chairman of the Board of Rail Cargo Hungaria praised the decision and highlighted that the direct management will improve the operational efficiency of the company in Miskolc. This will contribute to the faster fulfilment of RCH’s requests regarding the repair and maintenance of rail vehicles and to the improvement of customer service quality. He also added that the geographical location of the plant is ideal for rail freight services in the direction of Asia, in which segment RCH takes on leading role within the company group.
Román Kotiers, CFO of Rail Cargo Hungaria listed amongst the advantages the mutual utilization of the synergies, knowledge exchange and the harmonisation of the capacities and several support services. As he said, the structural change improves the chances of TS Hungaria – as the subsidiary of RCH – of receiving EU and Hungarian state subsidies.
Regarding the decision of the Supervisory Board, Gábor Lehóczki, managing director responsible for the financial area emphasised that through the change the company profits from advantages arising from the financial power and professional expertise of the Rail Cargo Group. József Dian, managing director responsible for the production confirmed that the 450 experts of the plant in Miskolc are prepared for the tasks of 2021, among others for the revision of 1,500 freight wagons and the repair of ca. 14,000 rail wheel sets. The company's employees will continue to provide high-quality customer services while focusing on safety and quality.
